‘The Sky Is Pink’ Movie Review

Quick Points:

  • Starred by Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, the movie ‘The Sky Is Pink’ is neither exaggerated nor so skilful.
  • Being surrounded by stars in the movie, Farhan Akhtar still stays strong.
  • Farhan Akhtar’s performance in the movie adds to the overwhelming presence of Priyanka Chopra.

The Sky is Pink is the wonderful love story of a couple who spanned 25 years. It is told through the lens of their teenage daughter, Aisha Chaudhary. The movie is surprisingly humorous, warm and heart touching. There is a scene in the movie where Aditi watches Aisha take up her pain highlight Chopra’s ability to give a silent yet powerful performance. In one particular moment, where Aditi experiences a psychotic attack due to severe sleep deprivation, Priyanka amzingly shows off vulnerability in her personality.

The film is about the nearing death of a terminally ill child. It is narrated by the dead child from beyond the grave. The film is directed by Shonali Bose. She keeps in view the nearing tragedy at all times, but everything in wrapped in good vibes and courage so wonderfully that you have to admire it.
Film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel tweeted in the morning today, “#TheSkyIsPink opened with 5-7% occupancy in morning shows across India. Rave reviews pouring in for the film, growth is expected in the evening shows.”
Kadel tweeted, “One of the main reason for such a low opening for #TheSkyIsPink is the film title itself. Normal audience ko yeh tak nai malum hai thik se yeh picture Hindi hai ya English. Why to keep such title when your film is starring mainstream actors. “

Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi also tweeted, “Here’s wishing @RonnieScrewvala #ShonaliBose @FarOutAkhtar & @priyankachopra luck for the release of #TheSkyIsPink! Can’t think of a single person who has had anything negative to say about the film (publicly or privately)! Look forward to watching it!”

This film is based on a real-life story. There really was an Aisha Chaudhary, who was born to Niren and Aditi. She died at 18. Even if the experience is less wrenching than what we might expect, this is a heart touching salute to a life cut short. After she dies, the next scene is her funeral and loud country music tramples over the goodbyes. The movie has a desperately sad scene to begin with, but as the music picks up the band members start to smile.

The Sky is Pink leaves us with a shaking feeling. If you have ever been in a dark room for a long time, you would have noticed that darkness provides its own light. After all, happiness is inevitable. You can run but you can’t hide.

Box Office Collection

As per the latest report on the Boxofficeindia.com, the film has opened to a poor opening of around 10% for it has nothing for people even for the urban youth. The film also lacks the star power and the music could not push the film. Itis likely to show a better performance on Saturday and Sunday, but the real test will begin from Monday.

Here is the trailer:

Judge the movie yourself and decide whether it is worth watching in your nearby cinema halls or not!
