Legendary Music Composer Khayyam Is No More

Music composer Khayyam, 92, passed away in Mumbai on Monday because of a cardiac arrest. He breathed his last at 9.30 pm on August 19,2019. The hospital declared cardiac arrest as the cause of his death. Khayyam was admitted because of infection in lungs and was in serious condition ever since admission. 

Ghazal singer Talat Aziz was looking after the composer and his wife Jagjit Kaur during this difficult phase. He shared this sad news with Bombay Times.

He was a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Padma Bhushan. Music composer Khayyam was best known for his music in classic films such as Kabhi Kabhie and Umrao Jaan. His other notable works include films such as Trishul, Noorie and Shola Aur Shabnam.

On Tuesday morning, celebrities across the worlds of cinema, television and music visited the musician’s Mumbai residence in Juhu to pay their last respects. Sonu Nigam met Khayyam’s family on Tuesday afternoon.

Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar, Raza Murad andPoonam Dhillon were also there.
