Forrest Gump is a film directed by Robert Zemeckis, which was released in 1994. It went on to win six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Hanks. The film is based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name and follows Forrest Gump, a dimwitted man from Alabama, who witnesses and unwittingly affects several historical events in the 20th century US.
Here is the trailer of Forrest Gump:
In an interview to Hindustan Times, Aamir revealed that he does not have any problems with remakes. Despite this, he has a criticism about Bollywood that it is losing its originality. He said, “I believe that whenever a script excites me, I want to do it. I have done remakes in the past too. It Happened One Night was remade into Dil Hai KI Maanta Nahi, and Tamil film Ghajini was remade as Ghajini in Hindi. However, most of my films are original scripts. As a creative person, I feel it gives you an opportunity to reinterpret the same material.”
On adaptation of the film, Aamir had said in a statement, “I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a life-affirming story. It is a feel good film. It is a film for the whole family.” The actor also revealed he would sport a turban but it’s “for some part of the film”.
Aamir Khan also said,”During the shoot, he had shared that the Forest Gump is one of his favourite movies. Atul approached me with adaptation script later on but I did not take him seriously. I read the script after 2 and a half years and loved it. After that, I went behind taking the right of the movie.”
Aamir will co-produce the Hindi adaptation along with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. The movie will be directed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan. Lal Singh Chaddha is set to be released on Christmas next year (December 25).
