Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s space fiction thriller flick, 2.0, released yesterday, September 6 in China and is setting the cash registers ringing.
Director Shankar’s determined film 2.0 stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The space friction thriller imparts an important message on the effects of harmful radiations from the mobile phone towers that affect the birds and animals.
The film, which was produced on an huge budget of Rs 543 crore,was released in China on September 6 in 48,000 3D screens. This is huge for Indian cinema and the film is setting the box office on fire. The pre-sales of 2.0 opened to positive responses from the Chinese audience.
Now, reports regarding the opening day collection from China have been making the rounds on social media. According to trade analyst LM Kaushik, 2.0 has managed to cross the $1 million mark (Rs 9 crore approx) in China on its first day.
He further added that the film stands at the third position in the Chinese box office, which is a great achievement for director – Shankar and his team.
Lyca Productions, who has funded the biggest Indian cinema, has been trying to release 2.0 in China for a couple of months now. The film’s release got delayed a couple of times due to several reasons. Finally, the makers were able to release it after a lot of struggle.
2.0 was lauded for its message and brilliant Visual Effects. Many observer in India found the screenplay a little disappointing. India Today reviewer Janani K rated the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, “2.0 is a film that should be watched for its steep ranking and glory. It has an expected storyline that might come across as a disappointment for many. Even though the visual effects are on touchstone with international standards, the story takes a beating towards the climax.”
